[edit] WolterBot

taskscontribscountsullogspage movesblock userblock logflag logflag bot

Operator: B. Wolterding (talk)

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Fulliautomatix

Programming Language(s): Java

Function Summary: Upload maintenance-related reports and listings to Wikipedia project space

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Runs at irregular intervals; major volume of edits expected once per month.

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): n/a

Function Details:

I provide maintenance-related reports, in particular listings of articles that have been flagged for cleanup of some kind, sorted by their assigned WikiProject. These listings and reports are generated from database dumps; this is outside the scope of the present request. However, once these reports have been generated, they need to be uploaded to Wikipedia project space; this task is the subject of the request.

The bot will upload these generated reports to designated subpages in project space, e.g. Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/Cleanup listing. It will overwrite any existing content there.

The bot will run at irregular intervals, typically no more than once a day, with only few edits in each run. Existing listings/reports will be updated only when a new database dump becomes available; that is once a month, approximately. At this point, a larger number of edits is expected (currently about 10, but this might increase to 100-500). Editing speed will be limited to 5 edits/minute.

[edit] Discussion

What edit rate will the bot be using? Does this bot have any support from the WikiProjects? — E TCB 21:35, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Edit rate: max. 5 edits/minute, as said above. For feedback/requests by the WikiProjects, see User talk:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings. --B. Wolterding (talk) 21:43, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Approved for trial. Generate three comprehensive lists and report back here when complete. — E TCB 04:16, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Will do. However, that might take until the next database dump is available (approximately end of June). --B. Wolterding (talk) 09:41, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
