[edit] SoxBot
tasks • contribs • count • sul • logs • page moves • block user • block log • flag log • flag bot
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic
Programming Language(s): AWB
Function Summary: WIkiproject tagging
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): One time run
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function Details: 2 parts to this request: Tag all talk pages of Category:Vermont with {{Project Vermont|class=}}, and then replace {{Project Vermont}} with {{Project Vermont|class=}} I am changing this request, to generic WikiProject tagging. After a conversation with Reedy, he says his bot was approved so he could do wikiproject tagging whenever. I would like to request that too, to avoid going into the triple digits on Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/SoxBot XXX. However, I still want the Vermont tagging done anyway.
[edit] Discussion
Are you planning to recurse through subcategories? (Presumably you are, because the main category is almost empty.) What's the chance of the bot recursing too far and tagging irrelevant pages (I don't know how organised the categories in that tree are)? --ais523 11:55, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- IIRC there's a plugin for this, but, I'm drawing a blank on the name, are you using that? (I know, vague!). Also, have you checked with the relevant wikiproject? SQLQuery me! 01:45, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- I ran a full AWB recursion on the category and picked up some subcats its hitting, that it shouldn't tag, like Category:Amtrak stations in California and Category:Canadian National Railway executives. Maybe ~5% of all the recursive cats I picked up looked wrong, can't tell though what % of the ~7,900 pages it picked up belong to that 5% of cats. MBisanz talk 21:23, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- the best thing to do is create a list of categories and let the wikiproject look over them. βcommand 21:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Sounds fine with me. Anybody object to a trial? — Werdna talk 10:02, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- Not me—sounds simple enough; just some basic tagging. —paranomia (formerly tim.bounceback)a door? 14:42, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
