[edit] Polbot
tasks • contribs • count • sul • logs • page moves • block user • block log • flag log • flag bot
Operator: Quadell
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic, supervised
Programming Language(s): Perl with Perlwikipedia
Function Summary: Create new articles on species, using IUCN Redlist for data.
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): In small batches.
Edit rate requested: 6 edits per minute
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Yes.
Function Details: I will manually find species names that do not have articles, and I will list them here. Polbot will read this list and look up the names at the IUCN Redlist. If the species name isn't found, Polbot skips it and goes to the next one. But if it's found, she reads the information, processes it, and spits it out as a new article. Examples: Balantiopteryx infusca, Kinosternon angustipons, and Eophona migratoria. (Polbot also made the redirects Ecuadorian Sac-Winged Bat, Narrow-Bridged Mud Turtle, and Yellow-Billed Grosbeak.) If there are pictures on Wikimedia Commons for the species, Polbot links to this too.
