Function Details: I have been using AWB with my regular account for a couple of weeks now for general fixes like typo fixing, wikification, tagging articles etc. Because of the number of edits involved, I thought it is better to create a bot account for using AWB. As of now, I intend to use this bot for very basic/minor changes using AWB. I might later expand to using this bot for adding templates to India-related articles, using it while assessing the articles etc.

• If all you want to do is edit with AWB as before, but with a different account, just create the new account and go ahead and use it. No approval is needed. If on the other hand, you want to run AWB as a bot in an automated fashion, we need to know specifically what tasks you want to do. Hope that helps. --kingboyk 00:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

The two edits per minute rule is for unapproved bots running automatically (but supervised) in trials. If a user is manually checking and approving each edit, using AWB for example, the bot falls under the Assisted bots part of policy, for which a bot falg is not usually needed. I believe that User:The Transhumanist has a similar second account for the purposes of doing manual AWB tasks - bot approval is only needed where the bot will to a particular task in a fully automated fashion, so we'll be able to determine whether this bot needs approval or not when the operator replies :).
