[edit] Kingbotk
tasks • contribs • count • sul • logs • page moves • block user • block log • flag log • flag bot
Operator: Kingboyk
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic, supervised
Programming Language(s): AWB
Function Summary: Create songwriter categories for notable songwriters
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): "One time" i.e. until done, but may be spread over several days.
Edit rate requested: Maximum allowed (in practice, AWB and my connection can do about 10ppm)
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function Details: Per this discussion, notable songs by notable songwriters should be categorised by songwriter. The Beatles songs aren't currently categorised this way (e.g. For No One), nor are several other notable performers. I want to use AWB to add this categorisation; it's a job I could do manually but it would be very tedious. Instead I would prefer to build and scrutinise the list and then run AWB with auto-save switched on but supervised. This is an uncontroversial task and I will only do very notable writers (perhaps only The Beatles, perhaps one or two others, we'll see how it goes). --kingboyk 15:59, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Sounds fine, but I'd prefer to wait until the CfD closes before approving this request, unless there is an MoS page or something which already states that this is the norm. Martinp23 16:06, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- The CFD just demonstrates the point, and is where I found out about this standard. The guideline is at Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(categories)#Music_by_composer. --kingboyk 16:09, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Speedily Approved. - make sure that you remember what the proper names of the categories should be (:P), and be receptive to any complaints. Martinp23 21:54, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. It's only a couple of hundred articles; in the past I would have done it manually but hitting save becomes a chore. I'll make sure I'm working within the guidelines and will seek input from categorisation experts if unsure. --kingboyk 22:06, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
