Operator: Boricuaeddie
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic
Programming Language(s): AWB
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): When needed
Function Summary: Replacement of superseded images
Edit rate requested: 6 edits per minute
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): No
Function Details:
I will use AWB to get all file links for a superseded image. I will then make AWB replace all links to the superseded image with links to the new image. I got the idea for this task after seeing a request at Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Replace_superceded_VG_Project_image. --Boricuaeddie 23:29, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Discussion
Simple task, no major issues. Approved for trial (50 edits). Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 23:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's pretty simple. I did some myself. --Boricuaeddie 23:48, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Great. After 50 edits, come back here, and i'll fully approve if there are no issues (AWB is pretty good, so I don't expect any). Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 23:52, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- The bot has made its first 25 edits. I double checked them, and nothing went wrong. I believe I have made the bot leave a specific edit summary, so users don't have to check the diff to see which images have been changed. I will proceed with the next 25 edits and will report back when the bot's done. I do have a question, though. Will the bot need a flag? --Boricuaeddie 23:03, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Unless there is a reason not to have one, all bots are flagged. Since this is automated only, it's a good idea to, especially if its editing faster than a human would. It also allows you to run AWB fully automated, without needing to click save. Also, thanks for the barnstar :-) Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 23:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- 50 edits made. No problems were found. --Boricuaeddie 02:22, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
