Bottecchia USA

Bottecchia USA assembles bicycles consisting of columbus aluminum and carbon frames manufactured in Taiwan, and is only related to the long-time Italian bicycle manufacturer, Bottecchia, by an agreement to distribute bicycles in the USA under the Bottecchia USA name. The bicycles are sold exclusively by a select eBay merchant in Houston Texas.

The bicycles sold under this name are not the same bikes that are available in Europe under the same name brand. They do come with a variety of good quality components that make for an attractive product for the budget conscious shopper, at least in appearance. (REFERENCE NEEDED).

The distribuitor economizes by using other top name brands like the "Vuelta Pro" wheel sets that are not the $500 Vuelta wheel sets available on the open market. These are lower end, heavy wheel sets that use that brand name and are set-up to appear as a higher end wheel set to the inexperienced prospective customer. (REFERENCE NEEDED).

Some of the less visible components like hubs, bearings, saddle, handle bars, seat post, etc. are also relatively lower end. (BIASED) Overall, the bicycles seem fairly well priced for what they are, though they are known to come with assembly problems that are potentially addressable by the warranty. However, as a cautionary tale, the distribuitor is known to resist honoring even smaller waranty-related issues alluding customers should have the bike professionally assembled at a local bike shop (LBS). Potential customers should keep in mind that by the time the services of an LBS have been enlisted for assembly and maintenance, the price advantages of purchasing on ebay may disappear altogether. On the other hand, taking the bike out of the box, turning the handlebars straight and fitting the wheels is not something that most buyers will find overly difficult.
