The Botswana general election of 1989 saw the Botswana Democratic Party win for the fifth straight legislative elections in Botswana since independence in 1966. The election was held on October 7, 1989. There were a total of 367,069 registered voters for the election, of which 250,487 or 68.2% voted on October 7.
