[edit] Trademark

So is it BOSS or Boss? RickK 20:39, 1 May 2004 (UTC)

BOSS, per both its own website and Roland UK's. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 01:06, 2 May 2004 (UTC)
Please put the disambiguation notice for the South African Bureau of State Security back. BOSS was infamous in the 1970s. David | Talk 10:21, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
It was only removed in initial editing which despite my best efforts was cut short last night, it will be replaced today. Sorry for any trouble that may have been caused by this. Silmarillion (Talk) Wiki be With us! 13:26, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm as much a Boss fan as anyone else, but this article sounds more like a catalog than a Wikipedia entry. Delenir

[edit] Is this page an advertisement?

I have to agree that this page is basically one large advertisement for the company.

FIXED. Thank you very much! NIRVANA2764 19:21, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

If this was an advert for Boss, I think they'd mention more of their gear than is mentioned on this page. Currently it mentions guitar effects processors ONLY. Looking at Bossus.com, I can see that this is just the first heading on the "Gear" menu. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.153.45.54 (talk) 08:48, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] So-called Tone-changers

I guess it's more correct to call those pedals tone-shapers. At least I saw such a definition on lots of musical websites.

[edit] User edit

I removed Michael Balzary from the list of people that use Boss products. Balzary and Flea are the same person and Flea was already in there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phefner (talkcontribs) 04:34, 18 February 2007 (UTC).

Someone has gone around and added Balzary to every list containing Flea. I'll try and clear that up at some point. I'm not sure this page merits a list of users though - after all it's much like listing writers who've owned a pen. *smb 23:54, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Artists who have used BOSS products

I believe this section should be completely removed. I can't think of any artist that never used any BOSS product. It's almost as having a list called "Programmers who have used Microsoft products". Only notable users (first users or endorsed players) should be listed, like Van Halen would be listed in a Peavey users list, with his Peavey 5150, for example. --SUBZ3R0 ( Talk | E-mail ) 19:35, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps not such a good analogy - I can think of a multitude programmers who never programmed or used MS products! (But this isn't the place to list them ;)195.153.45.54 08:50, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Boss-logo.png

Image:Boss-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:51, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Requested move

This page should be moved back to Boss Corporation. The name is not pronounced "B-O-S-S" and the letters don't stand for anything. Our manual of style for trademarks clearly indicates that in this case we should not reproduce the cosmetic all-caps rendering used by the company itself. ptkfgs 05:37, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Concur, on WP:MOSTM grounds. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 22:51, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
  • Support unless any information is uncovered indicating that this is an acronym. Dekimasuよ! 09:19, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
  • Comment. It appears that Boss is not actually a corporation, rather a division of the Roland Corporation and a product brand name from Roland. From the Roland website: “BOSS is the division of Roland Corporation...” Can anyone provide more info? ●DanMSTalk 01:13, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
They do describe themselves as "Boss Corporation". See: http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/en/index.html ptkfgs 01:15, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, now I see the “Copyright 2004 Boss Corporation” at the bottom of the page, but that is about all we have. This is a little obscure—probably needs a little research from someone who is interested in the subject. ●DanMSTalk 01:36, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
How about Boss (Roland)? ptkfgs 02:08, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I would definitely argue against merging the Boss and Roland pages though! It's just like AOL/Time/Warner - they're all the same company 195.153.45.54 08:52, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

This article has been renamed from BOSS Corporation to Boss Corporation as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 08:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
