[edit] Characters

The main characters are the eponymous Boston and Shaun. Supporting characters include Shaun's parents and younger brother Donald, as well as Boston's parents, Nova and Cosmo, and Shaun's classmates, teacher, and babysitter.

Shaun is the in-universe representation of the author[citation needed]; while originally portrayed as a young boy, Shaun has since 2005 been drawn as a kangaroo. He wears goggles, a wristwatch, and sometimes a red T-shirt; he bears a slight resemblance to Taichi Kamiya of Digimon fame. By drinking potions as a young child, he has gained "mutant powers" [1] that can be triggered involuntarily by strong emotions, and often at inopportune moments.

Boston is a dragon with a kangaroo-type pouch, and with the capacity to breathe fire. She also possesses the power to grow and shrink at will, which she will often employ in order to fit within Shaun's kangaroo pouch. While inside, she enjoys putting Shaun in uncomfortable situations in order to trigger his "bulking" mutant power, which makes his belly swell to become large and pillow-like.

[edit] Structure

Boston and Shaun features a long, continuous storyline. Strips usually consist of three cells apiece, although the author has been known to experiment with different formats. There has never been a consistent release schedule, but, during periods of activity, there have usually been at least two strips released per month.
