The Boston Sweepers were a member of the Atlantic Coast Football League. They played their home games at Everett Memorial Stadium in Everett, Massachusetts.
The owner of the team was Ted Baron, who owned a local trash disposal container company, hence the name of the team, "sweepers".
The head coaches were, on offense, Ed "Butch" Songin, and the defensive coach was Rommie Loudd. Both had played professional football with several teams, including the Boston Patriots of the American Football League who later changed their name to the New England Patriots.
Some of the players for the Sweepers were Quarterback Don Allard, Wide Receivers Rick Sapienza and Gary Farina]] and running back Dominic Gentile.
The place kicker was Jay "Booth" Lusteg who later went on to an NFL career with the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins.
In 1964 the Sweepers defeated the Newark Bears, 14-10 for the ACFL Championship in a game played in raw and wet weather in Newark.
