(35.362345, -81.834370).According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 328 people, 136 households, and 93 families residing in the town. The population density was 377.6 people per square mile (145.6/km²). There were 153 housing units at an average density of 176.2/sq mi (67.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 92.99% White, 4.27% African American, 1.22% Asian, 0.30% from other races, and 1.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.30% of the population.
There were 136 households out of which 35.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% were married couples living together, 11.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.95.
In the town the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 88.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.7 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $28,125, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $29,375 versus $20,455 for females. The per capita income for the town was $15,454. None of the families and 4.5% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 14.0% of those over 64.

Some believe Bostic/Rutherford County to be the true birthplace of Abraham Lincoln a stone marker been has been placed on the north edge of town to honor the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln. Bostic has long been a stop for the CSX railroad to exchange crews. CSX also has a small yard located just east of town. Bostic has only 2 caution lights and no red lights. There is a Seaboard Coast Line Caboose placed next to the railroad tracks in the middle of town.
