In 1989, tenor saxophonist Stan Getz recorded a couple of sessions for A&M Records. But the results were shelved in favor of Apasionado, an orchestrated latin jazz suite that was released in 1990. These sessions, recorded by A&M and issued for the first time on Verve Records, show Getz playing bossa nova and ballads at his finest in his later years. It also highlighted the outstanding compositions of Kenny Barron, who worked with Getz towards his last years.
