[edit] One from me too...

The Invisible Barnstar
You are to Did You Know what Raul654 is to Today's Featured Article- you keep Wikipedia running through maintaining our most visible page, usually updating many times per day. You're an asset to Wikipedia in a way that very few others are. J Milburn (talk) 20:04, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know, I've hopefully dealt with it now. J Milburn (talk) 11:42, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] That's okay

I was going to add one I was rescuing from the expiry pool, but then I found a really nice pic to go with it and I figure it would be better in the lead. So maybe next time. I think you'll be finished with the update by the time I get this pic uploaded anyhow :) Gatoclass (talk) 04:53, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks :) Feel free to finish the update, I've just promoted all the easy ones. I don't generally prepare updates until they're getting late-ish anyhow, so I won't be doing any more to the update for a few hours at least. BTW I don't think the woodcut and the WWII hooks go well together, so hopefully someone will move them apart when some more hooks are added. Fixed. Cheers, Gatoclass (talk) 05:32, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hyphen

Mmm, that one's got me scratching my head. I definitely didn't mean to revert it. I suspect I must have accidentally edited an old version of the page to make my desired edit, so by all means feel free to put the hyphen back in :) Gatoclass (talk) 08:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you so much

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in bestowing DYK bouquets on my Wikipedia contributions. I am honoured that you believe my contributions are worthy of such consideration. Be well. Ecoleetage (talk) 17:38, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

You feel... honoured?? I hope you are not thinking I am really "Her Majesty", are you? :-D Not a big deal, as long as you play by the rules you will get a place here. Keep up the good work. --BorgQueen (talk) 17:45, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] review

Hi BorgQueen - I've started working as a DYK reviewer since last weekend, and I am concerned that I'm nitpicking and not being well-grounded in policy when commenting. I'm trying to help, and I don't want to end up causing problems. What is your opinion, and how can I improve? Vishnava talk 20:47, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I really have to go offline now, I will comment after a few hours. --BorgQueen (talk) 20:50, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Can you look into the activities on Template:Did you know/Next update By an IP address ? -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 06:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

It was a mistake from my side. Usually we dont see activity on the DYK pages with IP address, I mistook it as a vandal blanking the page. I suspected it as I saw another user also reverting the edits by the IP. My bad ! Sorry :( -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 10:16, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Eaters of the Dead.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Eaters of the Dead.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Angler Fish.jpg

The image is a copyright violation. Check the Flickr page- the Flickr user has taken it from a blog, who no doubt took it from a scientific paper or documentary. J Milburn (talk) 11:59, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Sigh, I replaced the pic. You can trust no one these days... --BorgQueen (talk) 12:13, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Image:Cellular Fish cropped.jpg also looks like a copyvio. Check the source. J Milburn (talk) 12:14, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Replaced again. --BorgQueen (talk) 12:23, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Thanks for removing the non-free image on my DYK earlier on today (see June 2 articles). Thats one rule thats useful to know. Any comments on the DYK itself? Thank, your help much appreciated. J.T Pearson (talk) 17:24, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 6/6 DYK

Updated DYK query On 6 June 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Time Banking, which you recently nominated. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query On 7 June 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Opium (perfume), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Congrats. You've been doing so many updates lately, I figured I'd better promote this one when I had the chance to save you the embarassment of having to promote your own hook! ;) --Gatoclass (talk) 12:08, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Similar hooks

My method of dealing with these hooks is to separate them strictly on the basis of the hook content itself, not the article. My reason for separating those last two hooks was not actually clear - the reason I separated them is because there were two references to US TV programs together - Star Trek and The Incredible Hulk.

I really don't see any point in trying to separate hooks based on the content of the articles themselves, it will just become impossible that way. Gatoclass (talk) 19:02, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but the fact that they are Americans is not mentioned in the hook. That's the important thing. It just looks bad when the US (or any other subject) gets mentioned in consecutive hooks, it doesn't really matter if the content of the article itself has some relationship with the next hook. If we start trying to separate hooks on the latter basis, we will go nuts! Gatoclass (talk) 19:29, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hook characters

I'm a new reviewer at the Template talk:DYK and I had a few questions: Is 200 the maximum characters capacity in a hook, do you count the "... " as a character, and is this a good site to test the character capacity of a hook? Thanks, RyRy5 (talk) 00:03, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jencks

Thanks for drawing my attention to Clinton Jencks in the DYK section. I thought it was an interesting story... one of those... "small world, isn't it?" kind of things! A E Francis (talk) 00:06, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Next update

Sorry for not helping out with the last couple of updates. I could have done but I got distracted by some other stuff and completely forgot to come back and help out as I intended to. If you like I will do the next round of notifications. Can't promise to do much more than that though as I could use an early night tonight. Gatoclass (talk) 12:21, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] pinnacle@Duxton

so I don't really understand what you did to that image. what does it mean to protect it? Is it a violation of some sort. I really did take it on my own camera in a public space. DaronDierkes (talk) 16:29, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I protected the image because it was being featured on Main Page. All the images featured on Main Page are protected in order to prevent vandalism. --BorgQueen (talk) 17:13, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cozy Dog Update

I was just looking at it and saw hot dog on a stick was linked, however it was linked to a company called Hot Dog on a Stick Enterprises. I didn't know if it was intentional, but I might suggest piping to corn dog. :) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 07:12, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Done. --BorgQueen (talk) 07:22, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
That was my fault, didn't check the link, I just assumed when I wikilinked "hot dog on a stick" and it went blue that I'd hit the jackpot :p Gatoclass (talk) 07:24, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Damn you all for mentioning corndogs, now I'm craving one! :) BorgQueen, good work on everything you do, I was just browsing your talk page (after seeing all the wacky vandalism in the history of Cheese, hehe) and thought I'd just drop a quick hello! Weasel5i2 (talk) 19:11, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Update length

That is weird, it's definitely a line or two too long on my screen. Do you use the default skin? Gatoclass (talk) 07:24, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

It may be that you have a different aspect ratio then. I still use a standard CRT monitor because I can't stand the LCD's, but a lot of screens these days have a wider aspect ratio which probably explains it. Gatoclass (talk) 07:30, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, yes, I suppose so.. --BorgQueen (talk) 07:50, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Today's FA

Thanks for manually converting the sizes formats for today's FA in the mainpage Durian. I'm not sure what it was about the mainpage that made the extraordinarily ugly "(Expression error: Unexpected < operator in)" appear, but you made it go away nicely. Well done.

Witty Lama 10:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

It is very strange because the error didn't appear on my screen. --BorgQueen (talk) 10:55, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
