[edit] How it started

The artical was started with a translation of the article in the german Wikipedia, which in turn was a somewhat changed and extended version of the same subject in the swedish Wikipedia. Check these and their discussion pages for references (ask one of the contributers for help if needed as most speak some english). This article is part of a small scale project on the viking ring castles, currently in the languages of german, english and french, with some minor contact to norwegian, danish, dutch and malay.
