Borrowash pronounced (listen) is a village in the Erewash district of Derbyshire, England, situated immediately east of the Derby city boundary.

At the centre of Borrowash village is Somerfield supermarket, which is surrounded by a number of shops including a butchers, a newsagents, a branch of the Derbyshire Building Society (where an armed robbery took place during 2007), two estate agents, a pet shop, four hairdressers/barbers, a post office, a library, a hardware shop, a tackle shop and florists.
There are also four public houses, an Indian restaurant, two Chinese takeaways, a cafe and a small kebab shop[1].
The village has a football team (Borrowash Victoria A.F.C.), although their ground is in the neighbouring Derby suburb of Spondon.
The village's only school is Ashbrook Infant and Junior School.

There are buses to Derby, Ockbrook, Spondon, Ilkeston, Draycott, Risley and Nottingham.
To the south of the village there was once a railway station (Borrowash railway station opened by the Midland Railway) and the Derby Canal with two locks. The station was built in 1839 and closed to passengers in 1966. The canal is currently being restored, with the work on one of the locks nearing completion[2]. The area which the canal used to run through is currently a public footpath linking Borrowash and Spondon.
