Born Into the '90s was R. Kelly's debut album as a member of then-group Public Announcement. Released in 1992, the album became an instant hit with the success of "She's Got That Vibe" (Kelly's biggest hit in the UK, at #3), "Dedicated," "Honey Love," and "Slow Dance (Hey Mr. DJ)." Honey Love topped the Billboard R&B Singles chart for 2 weeks, while "She's Got That Vibe" and "Slow Dance (Hey Mr DJ)" hit the Top 40 respectively. By June 1992 Born Into the '90s was certified Gold and eventually went platinum in 1993, also picking up an American Music Award nomination for Favorite Soul/R&B Single ("Honey Love"). However, Kelly left the group shortly after the album's release to pursue a successful solo career.
