Born Standing Up

Born Standing Up: A Comic's Life is a memoir by comedian, actor and playwright Steve Martin. It examines Martin's childhood, his first jobs at Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm (including an interlude about the loss of his virginity to well-known Christian author Stormie Omartian) and his stand-up comedy career. The book was released on November 20, 2007 and received mostly favorable reviews.[citation needed] An excerpt from the book ran in the New Yorker magazine.
Time magazine's Lev Grossman named it one of the Top 10 Nonfiction Books of 2007, ranking it at #6, and praising it as "a funny, moving, surprisingly frank memoir."[1]
