Borassus heineanus is a species of a very large solitary palmate palm, fan palm in the Arecaceae family. Its common name is the New Guinea Palmyra Palm. It is found only in New Guinea. It is threatened by habitat loss. The palm grow up to 20m tall, with bluish/green deeply cut leaves up tp 3.2m across. The petioles have very sharp edges which can give a nasty cut to the unwary.
