Bora Maviş

Bora Maviş (1975) is a Turkish mountaineer and a summiter of Mount Everest.

He was born on September 17, 1975 in Isparta, Turkey. Bora received a BS and the a MS degree from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara in Metallurgy and Materials Science. He made his PhD in Material Science and Engineering from the Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, United States. Currently, Bora is an assistant professor in Mechanical engineering at Hacettepe University, Ankara.

He was a member of the Turkish expeditin team of six men and four women, who all summited Mount Everest. Bora made the summit with five other members on the second attempt of the team on May 24, 2006.

He is married to Eylem Elif, a mountaineer colleague of him, who became the first Turkish female summiter of Mt. Everest nine days before him on May 15, 2006.
