[edit] User:TimothyBanks

This user constantly moves articles from their common names, particularly female soap opera character articles. Wikipedia has a Common name policy, as you may know, that instructs editors that articles should be titled by their most well-known names. Well, TimothyBanks totally disregards that, and has been warned and blocked for it more than once. It seemed that he had started to follow the policy, but now he's back at it (his destructive moving), and tries to use other incorrectly moved articles as his justification. Any assistance from you on this matter would be much appreciated. Flyer22 (talk) 05:14, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I left him a note. At a glance, it doesn't seem as if he means any harm, so I'm reluctant to be too harsh. Let me know if there are any more problems though, take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I would agree about the "no harm" part...if he had not been warned about this several times before. There was even an instance where he moved a real person's article, Heather Mills to Heather, Lady McCartney (he actually did that move more than once, even after warned). But, anyway, thanks again. [edit] Protection

Hi Bongwarrior. Just a note to let you know, as you may have noticed, that I've indefinitely protected your userpage. Feel free to remove it any time, though if you want my advice you should probably leave it indefinitely. -- zzuuzz (talk) 11:42, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks zzuuzz, I probably will leave it up. For some reason, I had the notion that protecting my userpage automatically protected my talk page as well. Now that I see that's not the case, there's really no reason not to leave it protected. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 17:49, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your username...

Is that really acceptable? Come on, young people read this site and shouldn't have to be exposed to drug minutea. 70.9.221.156 (talk) 18:58, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I've never heard many complaints about it. Some people think that it is sort of an odd username, some think it is unbefitting an admin, but very few think I shouldn't be allowed to use it. --Bongwarrior (talk) 19:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] TimothyBanks Part 2

He's back at it yet again. As I stated before, he will not listen. Does not discuss his moves. Why? Because he knows that he is wrong and consensus would more than likely be against him anyway. And he tries to justify his moves by naming other wrongly moved articles. Rather than returning wrongly moved articles to their common names, he just makes more wrongly moved articles.

I honestly do not see a need for this editor on Wikipedia, and feel that he should be permanently banned. He has been repeatedly warned about the messes he creates with these moves, and he has repeatedly demonstrated that he does not care, and will do whatever he wants, regardless of Wikipedia policy. I am asking for serious action against this "editor"... If you temporarily ban him, he will just continue, like he always does. But I understand that you may want to give him another chance. I, however, feel that he ran out of chances long ago. Flyer22 (talk) 04:33, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay, he seems to be taking initiative in moving articles back to their common names. Hopefully, he keeps this up. Flyer22 (talk) 18:25, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Good news, glad to hear it. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 04:28, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:ELNUMERO1

I've come back to you about another problem -- User:ELNUMERO1. Just check his or her talk page...and you'll see what I mean. Months after those blocks...and that user is still up to the same thing. Clearly, he or she feels that if the person is biracial or even multiracial, African American, being a part of that equation, then that fact should not be mentioned at all in their article, no matter if it's well-sourced, and they should just be detailed as African American.

Oh, and this user doesn't respond to messages or blocks, but rather keeps on trying to do what he or she wants to do. Flyer22 (talk) 02:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I see, that is sort of odd. I've just left a friendly message for now. I didn't revert any of his/her edits because I'd like to maintain as much impartiality as possible, but you might want to have a look at them the next time you're online. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 02:58, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of defib pic

Aw come on man, that was unnecessary. I know the featured article vandalism was a bit too much, but don't be such a killjoy.

[edit] WP:HAU

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:50, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Truly, Madly, AbsoluteIdiot

He's working his way through, and he's up to User:AbsoluteIdiot4 by now. Dayewalker (talk) 05:46, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

And now, User:AbsoluteIdiot5. Dayewalker (talk) 05:49, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
And AI6. How very mindless. --Bongwarrior (talk) 05:53, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
What is the story with these? See User:AbsoluteIdiot12 DigitalC (talk) 06:20, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
It appears to be a theme. Dayewalker (talk) 06:22, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, no idea why. He/she finally got bored, I think. --Bongwarrior (talk) 06:25, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Why not?

I was always given to understand that American spelling was considered the 'correct' one to use. Why is it different for the article in question? It doesn't really matter to me: I see both spellings as 'correct', I'm just curious. HalfShadow 20:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi HalfShadow. It depends on the topic. American subjects will use American spelling, British subjects will use British spelling. If the subject doesn't have a strong connection to any one particular nation, then whatever variety the first contributor decides to use is the correct one. This is covered in greater detail at WP:ENGVAR. Take care. --Bongwarrior (talk) 20:12, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] We have consensus at Barack Obama

... for certain details regarding William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright and Tony Rezko. See Talk:Barack Obama. However, a small but extremely active and dedicated group of Obama fanboys are trying to WP:OWN and sanitize the article. Anyone who tries to support WP:NPOV and revert to the consensus version is threatened, called a sockpuppeteer, etc.

First, this has been an ugly situation for some time and more attention from admins is needed. Second, the Obama fanboys need to be brought under control. They do not own the article. WP:NPOV means proportionate representation of all significant POVs. The POV that is questioning Obama about his relationships with Wright, Rezko and Ayers is not a fringe POV. Editors who seek to include that POV in a balanced manner are not "Obama haters," and when they agree with one another, they are not sockpuppets. Please help.
