A goalkeeper, Ginzburg played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maccabi Petah Tikva and Beitar Jerusalem before signing for Glasgow Rangers in 1989. He returned to Israel in 1991, signing for Beitar Tel Aviv and went on to play for Ironi Ashdod and Bnei Yehuda before joining Maccabi Haifa in 1996. He retired in the late 1990s after losing his place to Nir Davidovich.

He made his debut for Israel aged 19 on 10 June, 1984 in a friendly match against Wales, keeping a clean sheet as the game ended 0-0. His last cap came aged 31 in another friendly, this time against Romania on 14 August 1996, a game Israel lost 2-0. In addition to the 62 caps won in FIFA-recognised games, Ginzburg gained another 6 caps in qualifying games for the 1988 Olympic football tournament.
