An excerpt from a letter to Mr J Conrad by Chris Bailey and the General Dog.
Hurtling through the dark on my way to Paris in the early hours of a winter's morning
seems an appropriate enough time to scratch out - as requested - a few words of the "life of these songs".
I'd like to endlessly waffle on as how this trip is taking me on a journey into the heart of darkness, which - whilst vain, dramatic and glamorous - would unfortunately be bollocks! This journey is taking me on an adventure into very familiar territory - I'm only doing a week's worth of shows for Christ's sake! Nevertheless I have the same feeling of wanting it to be as new and exciting as it was the first time I stumbled into this city many years ago.
'Twould be the same for the tracks that appear on this record. I've never been overly nostalgic however when approached to be involved in this project my immediate reaction betrays the Aussie influence that still has a hold on me:
"Oh Yeah; I'll give it a go."
Whether or not this hasty reaction has proven successful or not is up to you dear listener?
The tunes contained herein are culled mainly from the work of The Saints.
