Bond Wireless was founded in Queensland, Australia in 2002 by Dr. Clarence Tan with the objective of creating purpose built ICT (Information and Communications Technology) applications that used SMS (short message service/text messaging) as their key communications medium. Bond Wireless has won several national [1] and international awards[2] for their software and patented secure communications systems[3]. Bond Wireless provides SMS coverage to over 150 countries and VoIP(Voice over IP) to over 220 countries and currently has business operations in Australia, USA, UK, UAE, Thailand, Kenya, Malaysia, and Singapore. Bond Wireless is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner[4], IBM Advanced Level Partner[5], Sun Microsystems iForce Partner, and a Computer Associates Channel Partner.

[edit] Intellectual Property
Bond Wireless has a patented SMS Authenticate and Verify (SAV) technology[6] which enables the non-repudiation of SMS recipients. SAV applications range from notifying patients of their medical results[7] to enabling mobile commerce and mobile banking[8]. Bond Wireless also holds patents for its SMS Print technology that allows for the sending of an SMS from any Microsoft Windows-based application by pressing the Print button.[9]

[edit] SMS/Text-Messaging Gateway
The Bond Wireless Global Messaging Gateway connects organizations to mobile phones in over 150 countries across 500 networks utilizing a global network of over 50 operators. The Gateway supports Two‐way SMS/text messaging and enables access to the existing range of Bond Wireless services and applications or can be accessed via an independent application or service operated by Bond Wireless’ clients and partners. Connection options include HTTP Post, SMPP and VPN.[10]

The Bond Wireless Global VoIP Gateway enables organizations to access VOIP (Voice over IP) services, enabling PC-to-PC and PC-to-Phone calling either directly from the Bond Wireless Application Suite or via integration into existing corporate applications. The VoIP gateway incorporates an SMS/text messaging call initiation capability which enables a VoIP call to be established by a mobile phone through SMS/text messaging the number of the party a person wishes to call.[11]

Dr. Clarence N.W. Tan is the founder and Executive Chairman of Bond Wireless. He formerly was the Associate Dean (Community Relations) and is currently an Adjunct Professor at Bond University and Griffith University. He was selected to be on the panel of International Judges representing Australia for the Asia Pacific IC&T Awards in 2002. Prior to that he was the Chair of the Australian Asia Pacific IT&T Awards 2001 Judging Panel for the Smart Internet and Communication Technology Category and was the Chair for the Games, Media and Entertainment Category, as well as a judge in the Banking and Finance Category in 2000. He is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (FACS), an Associate of the Securities Institute of Australia (SIA), a Senior Associate of the Australian Institute of Banking and Finance (AIBF), and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Business Administration (UK).[12]

Brett Milne comes from a marketing and product development background within the telecommunications industry. He has over 15 years experience in the telecommunications industry including senior marketing and product development roles with Telstra and AAPTMobile. His current focus is on the commercialization and customization of the unique technology and business optimizing capabilities developed by Bond Wireless.[13]
