Bommalapuram

The original name of Bommalapuram is PeddaBommalapuram. PeddaBommalapuram is a group of three villages namely TurpuPalle, Pedduru, ParantuPalle. This village is last village for Prakasam district and dornala mandal. Towards Nallamalla forest. This village is situated at a distance of about 6 kilometers from the Dornal - Guntur state highway.

The major livelihood is agriculture.

There is a big tank constructed in between two big hills in Nallamala extended from srisailam.It is the first village that comes south side from Srisailam.

There is a temple of Veerabhadraswamy at Gandi which is another gateway to Srisailam. There is pathway from bommalapuram to srisailam.

There is another natural cave called Bayyannasala in which the shivlinga was formed in the deep thick nallamalla forest. And people believe that still ancient saints are still living in the caves.

The three wonders of the area are:

  • The slates of Markapur
  • The Temple of the Y'palem
  • The ladies of bommalapuram (famous for their gaint physique)
