Bomberman Land (also known as Bomberman Land Wii and also referred to as Bombermanland), (not to be confused with Bomberman Land Touch!, a DS title) is a game that features a collection of various, Wii Remote-based minigames. The game is developed and published by Hudson Soft and was released in Japan for Nintendo's Wii on March 8, 2007[2].

[edit] Game demo shown at E3

A demo of the game was playable at the Nintendo booth during the 2006 E3 gaming convention. The demo featured three minigames used to demonstrate the Wii Remote's functionality. These minigames included Mountain, Pierrot, and Space Tube. In the Mountain minigame, the player uses the Wii Remote to point and destroy falling rocks coming out of a volcano located in the background. The player also receives bonus points for shooting at the rocks consecutively without missing. In the Pierrot minigame, the Wii Remote is used to balance a giant bomb on a stick, which grows in size as the game progresses. The player must also avoid objects falling off from the balcony, which will cause the stick to tilt. If the stick manages to tilt too much, the bomb will fall off and explode. The Space Tube minigame uses the Wii Remote to tilt the tube that Bomberman runs through, which makes Bomberman jump or turn right and left. The player must also avoid obstacles including closing doors and spikes.

[edit] Game design

This version of Bomberman Land retains a very similar look to Bomberman Land Touch! for the DS, which in turn is based in the older pre-Bomberman Land designs.

[edit] Multiplayer

Bomberman Land Wii features multiplayer mini-games, as well as the classic Bomberman Battle mode multiplayer. This time however there is a slight difference, in that rather than just basic coloured Bombermen, the characters of the Bomberman Land series are playable, including Bookworm Green and Giant Gold.

[edit] Gameplay

The player will compete in a total of 50 mini-game challenges in 5 different zones. If the player is one of the top-ranked characters, then he will be promoted to the next zone. The point of the game is to get promoted to the champion battle and defeat the champion.

There are actually three other Bomberman Land games that were released in Japan only; Bomberman Land for the PlayStation, Bomberman Land 2 for the Nintendo GameCube and Bomberman Land 3 for the PlayStation 2. All three games should not be confused with this one, as the previous three used the super deformed Bomberman characters.

Other Bomberman Land games have been released on the Nintendo DS (Bomberman Land Touch! and Bomberman Land Touch! 2) and PSP (Bomberman Land).
