Bombardino is a drink popular in Italy during the Winter, especially in the ski resorts. It is made by mixing 1/3 Advocaat or eggnog, 1/3 Whiskey, and 1/3 black coffee. It is served hot and has several variations: with and without coffee and with rum or brandy instead of whiskey. Its name is supposedly derived from one of its first imbibers noting its hot temperature and high alcohol and remarking (in Italian) "It's like a bomb!".
[edit] Variants
The finest and most well known maker of the bombardino is that of "Martino", the bartender at the Hotel Cresta Et Duc, in Courmayeur, Italy. Martino makes his bombardino with his own recipe of vov (vov is the italian version of advocaat), and brandy. These two ingredients are added in equal parts. The next step is to steam the drink the same way you would to a cappucino. The final touch is to decorate the bombardino with fresh whipped cream and a sprinkle of cacao powder.
