The Bolshoi Ice Palace is a description of a 12,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Sochi, Russia that is currently in the planning stages. "Bolshoi" literally means "Major", hence the correct English name for the Bolshoi Ice Palace would be the "Major Ice Palace". It is due to be open in 2009. After it is completed, it will host some of the ice hockey events at the 2014 Winter Olympics along with Maly Ice Palace. The venues will be located 300 m apart.
It will cost $180.1 million to build the venue, including the temporary works for the Olympics. After the Olympics, it will serve as a sports arena and concert venue.
