Bolo shell

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Bolo shell usually refers to a type of shotgun shell load. The round is made of two or more slugs molded onto steel wire. When fired, the slugs separate, pulling the wire taut creating a flying blade, which could potentially decapitate people and animals; or amputate limbs. Bolo shell rounds are banned in many locations (including two states of the United States of America[1][2]) due to their potential lethality. The round is named in reference to bolas, which used two or more weighted balls on a rope to trap cattle or game.
