Bolly-Hood or Bollyhood is a term used to describe the growing phenomenon of fusion music made up of Indian sounds, R&B and hip hop. Made popular by mainstream producers such as Timbaland and Scott Storch, the movement has grown momentum among South Asian youth around the world and created its own artists such as Jay Sean and Raghav. The term is derived from Bollywood, India's movie and entertainment industry.
In 2005 Ashlene Nand from New York City launched Bollyhood Records, a label catering to the growing market for the musical genre. The album [Bhood]: A collaboration of Indian and Urban artists was the first full length album to showcase the rising talent in the American South Asian music scene. The album, which included artists such as Yukmouth, Gurdeep Samra, Bikram Singh and 4-Ize, launched the bhangra group RDB into the urban music scene by providing them one of their biggest hits to date titled Ishq Naag (Love Bites) and featuring Elephant Man.
