[edit] Abbot

The current abbot of Bodhivana Monastery is Ajahn Kalyano. He was born in London in 1962. Venerable Ajahn Kalyano received his ordination in North East Thailand in 1985 at Venerable Ajahn Chah's monastery.

[edit] Location

Bodhivana is located in East Warburton, Victoria, Australia. It is about 90 minutes drive away from the centre of Melbourne.

[edit] Activities

Bodhivana monastery is a branch monastery in the tradition of Venerable Ajahn Chah. It was established to provide a place where candidates can train for ordination as Buddhist monks.

Anyone is welcome to visit the monastery. There is an alms-giving ceremony from 10.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. every day. Occasionally, there will be Dhamma talk on evenings.

Since Bodhivana is a new monastery, there is still a lot of building work to be done.

Limited amounts of Laypeople can also stay at the monastery, to practise meditation and help out at the monastery. Food is provided by the alms-givers and there is no monetary charge whatsoever. Those who wish to stay there need to at least give a phone call to confirm their arrival and length of stay.
