The food and drinks are quite reasonable by Moscow standards. Major sporting events are shown here as well, adding further to the attraction of foreigners. However the main reason for the popularity of this place is during the evenings Russian prostitutes enter the place plying their trade. The majority of these prostitutes work for themselves, not for a pimp or escort agency. They are generally young, educated and have day jobs e.g. secretary, cashiers, clerical work etc. but given the low pay for such work in Moscow, these young lady's supplement their income by prostituting themselves. As they are aware that the bar is frequented by expats and foreigners, they believe they are able to charge a higher fee for their services. In addition there is a feeling among Russian prostitutes that it is safer to "go with" a foreigner as oppossed to a Russian or someone from the former Soviet Republics. The negotiation for the price of the prosititutes time and services is made directly with her, the bar does not charge any fee or commission but merely provides a place where this meeting and negotiation can take place and where food & drinks can be bought. However recently the security guards at the front entrance have started to demand payment from the prostitutes in order for them to work in the bar.

[edit] Advert tag

A few phrases read unencyclopedic and more like an advertisement (at least until they are sourced). Contentious words/phrases are bolded. Again, the content may well be valid, but it needs to be sourced.

  1. As of 2006, the Boarhouse is successfully managed by Mark Grobman, an American expat with extensive New York and Los Angeles night club and restaurant management experience.
  2. Foreigners are attracted by the low priced food and alcohol, as well as the showing of major sporting events.

Again, I'm not contesting the factual accuracy of these words and phrases, but only stressing that they should be sourced (in-text). Black Falcon 00:01, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
