Boardwalk Records was a record label founded by Neil Bogart in 1980, after PolyGram acquired his Casablanca Records. The label had a huge hit act with Joan Jett before Neil Bogart died of cancer in 1982. Other artists on the Boardwalk label included Curtis Mayfield, Ohio Players, Richard "Dimples" Fields, Chris Christian, Night Ranger, Ringo Starr, Get Wet and Harry Chapin. Chris Christian was the first Artist signed to Boardwalk. He was managed by Robert Kardashin, father of Kimberly Kardashin. "I Want You I Need You" became the first top 10 Billboard Hit by Christian and the label. The label fell into disarray for the rest of the decade, ending up in bankruptcy.
In the early 1990s, its assets were acquired by Reach Entertainment, who revived the label. It passed on to Colliers Media Company in the 1990s. Boardwalk was acquired by Margate Entertainment Company in 2005. Boardwalk is the first record label to produce all of its new product on DVD. Current artists on the label include Mark Lindsay, Bay City Rollers, Chris Montez, Karma, The Swank Bastards, Latin Quarter Jazz Quartet and Denise Clemente.
