Blyvooruitsig

Blyvooruitsig is a small mining town approximately 10km out of Carletonville, Gauteng, South Africa. The town has grew from housing provided to the mining community. The town has its own golf course and a recreation club all put in place by the Blyvooruitsig Gold Mine (BGM).
Blyvooruitsig is surrounded by numerous other mining towns in the Carletonville gold mining area of which a few are Elandsrand, Doornfontein, Western Deep Levels, West Driefontein and East Driefontein.
There are two primary schools in the town, an Afrikaans school called Blyvooruitsig Laerskool and an English school called Rocklands Primary. Rocklands Primary also has a pre-primary school in its vicinity.
A sink hole incident at Blyvoorouitsig claimed the lives of a whole family as the house they were sleeping in suddenly disappeared, a memorial stone to them also was erected on the site.
