[edit] A note about linking

Hello! I am a member of the Wikipedia project for disambiguating links. Links in music articles are big culprits of creating ambiguous links so I wanted to pass along some tips to help you with your contributions:

[edit] License tagging for Image:TheFriendsOfMrCairo2FrontB.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:TheFriendsOfMrCairo2FrontB.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:08, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deleted page "1568 in art"

A page you created, or image you uploaded, 1568 in art, has been deleted in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets the one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

No content whatsoever. Any article consisting only of links elsewhere (including hyperlinks, category tags and "see also" sections), a rephrasing of the title, and/or attempts to correspond with the person or group named by its title.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable notability guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content; it will be deleted again and may be protected from re-creation. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article. If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. [edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Voyager album cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Voyager album cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Default Sort

Hi,

I've been editing WP or about a year and a half now, and am just recently coming across the "Default Sort" addition in the Category Section of Articles. Is this a short cut or what? The reason I am asking you is that I see you recently added this to the Jill Gomez article I had edited. Sometimes I'm slow at catching up with new things in WP. This seems like a good addition.

Thanks,

Michael David 13:50, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for the great explanation of the Default Sort. I do a lot of work with Categories, so it's going to be particulary helpful to me. Also, thanks for the tips on where to place it.
Thanks, again,

[edit] Jonas Armstrong

hi :D i'm pretty new to all the editing stuff, but i've been keeping an eye on some pages i'm interested in - one being Jonas Armstrong - and i've asked this over at the discussion page but i forgot that i can do it on a user's page also. I'm curious as to why you keep removing Jonas' credit for the TV show Nevermind The Buzzcocks. I know he was in it because i watched it so i can't really think of a reason you are removing it. I notice that the IP that places is there is putting it in the wrong place but that would suggest moving it rather than deleting it. Take care, Princesskirsty 00:00, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

ooooh my first usertalk reply, is it bad that i'm excited? LOL i know a bit about the show so i'll go find the right stuff to write it up properly (and in the right place, is it really hard for people to see the date order?). thanks for replying, Princesskirsty 00:24, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Theodora Goes Wild.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Theodora Goes Wild.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Little context in Irving Guttman

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Irving Guttman, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Irving Guttman is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Irving Guttman, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Whalerider.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Whalerider.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 12:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Shadow (redwall)

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Shadow (redwall), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Username

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: "Bluetooth" is a trademark; although use of trademarks as a user name is not prohibited, it's not recommended. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Thank you. Cavenbame parlez 20:29, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

To change your username, go to Wikipedia:Changing username. Although, I'm just commenting on the situation, I'm not telling you whether or not you can use that name. Cavenbame parlez 23:04, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
