Hello!

Glad to see you've finally signed up. Can we expect to see more edits on the Second Sino-Japanese War soon? I'll likely be working on the battles, individuals, weapons and such, so any help rendered on the article on the war itself will be greatly appreciated.

Blue Shirts

Hello and welcome! The Chiang Kai-shek article lacks any mention of the Blue Shirts. Maybe you can add something in, if that's what you are.--Jiang 04:48, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I've been wondering about that, too. Seems too much of a coincidence. So, would it be safe to assume you're a fascist blueshirts supporter? :D
-- Миборовский U|T|C|E 06:07, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
I'm not really interested in the Blue Shirts and since my editing is usually fueled by interest and/or an obligation, I probably won't touch it much. But I'll see what I can do. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E 00:36, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

re:pictures

You need to tag all images you upload with the appropriate license. The policy is detailed here: Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#Copyright_.28images.29. Images taken in China during that period can be tagged with Template:PD-China (by inserting {{PD-China}}). --Jiang 00:10, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

  1. PD in PRC (and ROC) for photos is 50 years since it was taken. So most 2SJW pics belong to PD. Therefore if possible you could upload them to the commons.
  2. Mind telling me the ISBN number of your book? Mind uploading all/some of the pics?
  3. Google image is always a good place to start. After that, try military history forums and gun forums.

RE: 800 Heroes

I pasted that notice because I was planning a major rewrite on the day-to-day actions of the battle. So I won't add much if anything at all to the aftermath and such. Feel free to edit it, wikipedia is free. (As in beer and speech.)

RE:Special pages

Just type User:BlueShirts/Foo in the url bar. BTW, your list of the 22 engagements differ from the one in the campaign box substantially... oops. One of it is wrong. We should find out which. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E 00:49, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, lots of pics, lots of description. Might not be completely reliable though. Never heard of 忻口會戰, and they left out Defence of Nanjing. BTW, the zh.wiki version uses 3 paragraphs to talk about CCP's role in the war, so I honestly don't see how you think it inflates its role. If you think so, raise it with them and see what you can do. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E 05:44, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E 06:10, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi there. Welcome to Wikipedia. You may need to change your name. Wikipedia has a policy of not allowing people use names of organisations, people (other than yourself), things that might be offensive, etc. No doubt by accident you have inadvertently chosen a name that falls foul of the rule. The Blueshirts were a European fascist organisation in the 1930s, whose leader, General Eoin O'Duffy proclaimed himself the third most important man in Europe after Hitler and Mussolini. Though they didn't amount to much, it is inadvisable, albeit by accident, to be using the name of a fascist party as your nic. If you ask around you'll get advice about how to change it. Don't worry. A lot of people innocently stumble into using names that had a meaning that they had no idea of. (I've been there. My three initials in my usernic, jtd are my the first initials of my three personal names. Some people, however, think I am someone else who also has those initials!) The problem is that people who know what the Blueshirts were may think you are politically on the far right, and that may colour how they see you. Others on the left may be offended by the name. Sometimes admins change usernames if the person with the problem name doesn't themselves. So to avoid causing offence, or having people jump to conclusions about your politics, it would be wise to change your name, or else change it to the same name in a different language so that people don't recognise it.

Sorry to be the bearer of *slightly* bad news. Take care. FearÉIREANN 02:31, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

I know that. The trouble is that it is a rather strict rule. People who use what can be seen as offensive names usually either have them changed whether they like it or not, or sometimes have their 'offensive' name banned. Using the name of a fascist party as your usernic, even innocently, is not an option. Names of political parties are not allowed as usernics. Names with political associations are also not allowed. Your usernic unambiguously breaks WP's very strict rules on name usage. You will need to find a usernic, or maybe just translate it into something else, or a symbol, but Blueshirts, like Brownshirts, like Blackshirts, etc are not allowed as usernics. FearÉIREANN 03:24, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Chinese nationalism

I've posted a note at User talk:赵里昱. you may want to add to it. --Jiang 06:20, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Hello. It appears that you've been in violation of the 3RR too. Just because the other guy is doing it doesn't mean you should. Please read the relevant policies. I'm afraid I'll have to issue a warning of sorts, but don't worry because I learnt it the hard way too. Now, 赵里昱 has been issued a warning from me already, so if he violates 3RR again, don't violate it yourself, but report it to WP:AN/3RR instead. Thanks.

Hello there BlueShirts,

Thank you for supporting me on my RfA. It's Thanksgiving Day, too... so once again a big thank you! Have an awesome weekend! (If you celebrate Thanksgiving, that is.) Nice work

Hey there, saw your Defence of the Great Wall and First Battle of Shanghai articles. Very impressive work. Comprehensive, too, much better than most of my sub-sub-stub battle articles!

One thing though, is that both UK and US spellings are accepted on Wikipedia, and it's usually best to stick to whichever the creator(s) of the article used. Thanks. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 05:36, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

RE:Uploaded photos

You could upload them to commons.wikimedia.org, you know. Thanks. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 02:41, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

I've uploaded all of the stuff you have on your Contributions page to the commons. Hope you don't mind. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 03:12, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

If you don't mind, could you take a look at Template:WWIIChineseHeavyWeapons, which I made a la Template:WWIIGermanAFVs. It's still missing a ton of stuff, and because of the many chem and bio labs I have to write over the next few days I won't get much time to pore over books and websites to find out what heavy weapons we had. This page has an extensive, if a bit messy, list. Thanks a lot. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 05:23, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

Territory changes

Hi, I noticed that you made several edits to the territorial changes part of the warbox in Second Sino-Japanese War.

Manchuria was invaded by the Soviets (August Storm), who then lingered after Japan's surrender to loot the industry there, and then when they left they turned over control to the Chinese (and Korean) communist guerillas in their army. The Nationalists rushed troops to major cities like Shenyang, but most of the industry and land were in communist hands.

Outer Mongolia, when we're talking about "loss", was lost in 1911 when they declared independence. if you consider that government just a "warlord", then in 1921 the Soviets came and made it their puppet state, so it can't be considered a "warlord" anymore. To this day the ROC has not renounced claims over Outer Mongolia (including Tuva). So I don't see how Outer Mongolia could have been "lost" because of the war? -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 19:52, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, if I'm not wrong, in the Yalta conference they agreed to "maintain status quo"... so for there to be a status quo to maintain, Outer Mongolia would have been lost before the conference, no? -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 01:56, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Hmm, makes sense. We can always clarify it in the main article. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 18:22, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Greetings

I am called Ye Di Wen, whom you contacted here. I believe you may have been referring to my small additions to the discussion pages of the War of Resistance, the Xi'an Incident and Tibet, and if not, I apologise for the confusion.

I have not, in fact, make any actual revisions, and have so far limited myself to the discussion page, though I confess I have been gathering material for an expansion of the Chinese wikipedia, as having such world languages as Polish or Swedish outmassing Chinese is unacceptable, bordering on the insulting, more so since many Chinese historical personage actually has Japanese or English articles whereas the same is absent in Chinese, or much reduced in content.

RE:Sino-German cooperation

Looks good, much better than what I would have been able to come up with! A few points of interest though:

  1. I would prefer it to have been in Pinyin instead of WG. The China-related Manual of Style suggests Pinyin for terms not predominantly known by their WG transliteration.
  2. A few minor spelling errors here and there, nothing a spellchecker can't fix.
  3. Elaborate more on von Seeckt's 60-division plan.
  4. I assumed you meant something like the Lehr divisions when you were referring to "training brigade" in lieu of the German eliteheer?
  5. Would like more on the military hardware cooperation.
  6. Legacy section seems a bit redundant, has several passages that doesn't specifically deal with the legacy of the cooperation.

As for FAC, I suggest we take a look at Wikipedia:What is a featured article and then submit the article for Wikipedia:Peer review.

Happy (UTC-8) New Year, by the way! -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 07:53, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, you wrote it so you get to decide, I guess. MOS says, "In general, Chinese entries should be in Hanyu Pinyin except when there is a more popularly used form in English (such as Taoism) or when the subject of the entry is likely to object to romanization in pinyin. When an entry is not in pinyin form, there should be a redirect to the article from the pinyin form." Or submit it to Peer Review and see what they say. -- Миборовский U|T|C|E|Chugoku Banzai! 08:05, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Taiwanese writing

Hi - I would be interested to hear your opinions on Taiwanese writing - which do you think is hilarious: POJ romanization, adapted Hanzi or both? Taiwantaffy 02:35, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am not a very advanced Taiwanese speaker, but I have to say that although the POJ system is ungainly and overcomplicated, the idea of writing in it does not seem ridiculous to me. The problem is that there is no established standard and the majority of native Taiwanese speakers are effectively illiterate in their own language. Sure, it is possible to write Taiwanese in Chinese characters, but there is no agreed standard for many words that differ from Mandarin and half the time you have to make them up. Whereas in POJ, there is a standard that exactly fits the language and plus is easy to learn (for natives and foreigners alike). Seems quite logical to me! I'm not knocking your opinion, just looking for a little more detail. Thanks! Taiwantaffy 03:08, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Blueshirts - I saw your comment on the talk page for the above article - I think you're spot on. Perhaps you would be a good person to add some vocabulary items to the 'Technical words' category at the bottom of the page? Thanks! Taiwantaffy 01:15, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually I take that back. See [3] and [4]. So yeah, we've got two sources, one of them from a CPC website. Can't get more convincing than that, LOL. -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 02:22, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
OK actually it's a CPC-KMT site. As in the CPC branch of KMT. LOL. Yeah my mapmaking skill is teh sux. Help, eh! -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 18:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Could you do a copyedit for the Sihang article? -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 22:24, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

No pressure or anything, but it'd be cool if you dig up the sources for the League of Nations/Nine-Power Treaty snafu... then we can submit the article for FAC. ;) -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 05:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I know. I lived really close to the warehouse and didn't know shit about it. When I first heard about the battle I was thinking, Sihang Warehouse isn't it that furniture warehouse along North Tibet Road... See map, Sihang Warehouse is at the bottom right-centre, and I lived around where "Jiaotong Rd" is in the mid-left. Good job CPC. (But on the other hand, the bowling alley etc is an expression of free-market economy, which I heartily agree with.) :S -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 08:44, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Yo, Sihang Warehouse is now up for FAC! -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 04:45, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

CCP/CPC

Hi BlueShirts! I noticed you've changed CPC to CCP in Chinese Civil War. However, I don't see "CCP" being overwhelmingly used over "CPC", and I feel that we should put official information on Wikipedia. Thanks! Have a nice day, 199.111.230.195 22:24, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Dont remove the part about Operation August Storm

Operation August Storm palyed a much bigger part for china then the droping of the atmoic bombs, and the Japanese left on chinese soil were either dead or caputred. You fail to understand that in less then 11 days the Soviets hade destroyed the whole Japanese army In china and Korea. (Deng 18:49, 3 May 2006 (UTC))

I am sorry, It wasent you who removed that part But someone else I missed that I am so sorry ;) (Deng 18:53, 3 May 2006 (UTC))

Yes the first bomb was droped on the 6th of August and the soviets invaded on the 8th but the bombs didnt affect in any way what so ever the troops and the equipment in China and Korea. When the Soviets invaded, the Japanese didnt really know what had happened with the Hiroshima. It took the some days to understand that it had been destroyed with just one bomb. And the Japan home islands didnt surrender untill the 15th of August and by this time the Japanese army in china had allready been destroyed (Deng 20:11, 3 May 2006 (UTC))
Yes on everything except that it was destroyed and the Japanese were going to fight to the very end but the bombs and the invasion made them change their minds, 1.1 million troops were either dead wounded, missing or captured you can read more here in this american military study of the battle http://www-cgsc.army.mil/carl/resources/csi/glantz3/glantz3.asp I must stress that loseing the whole Of china in 7 days and China + Korea + some small Islands in 11 days and loseing 1.1 million men can have an affect on a leader. Chinese military history task force

Hello. I am approaching you with this message because you have contributed to some aspect of Chinese military history on Wikipedia and/or have put your name on WikiProject Military history's member list and indicated your expertise in some field of Chinese military history.

Here's the deal. We need a place to coordinate work on Chinese military history. Therefore, I am proposing to start a task force for this purpose. But before we can go ahead with it, I need to make sure that there is enough contributors to sustain this effort. The China-related topics notice board died of neglect and if we create this task force we need to be committed to it or it will suffer the same fate. I'm asking for your opinions on this matter, whether it's a good idea or not, if you'd be interested in it, and what suggestions you might have. Also, if you know anyone else who would be interested in this, please inform them as well. -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 02:54, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
