Talk:Blurb

I've heard a distinction made between "blurbs" -- the publisher's spiel, usually a teaser or summary -- and "endorsements". 195.217.52.130 15:44, 18 January 2007 (UTC) Crotluck
The history section doesn't seem to adequately explain where the word "blurb" came from. It references how the quote "yes, this is a BLURB" showed up on the book's dust jacket, but was that the first use ever of that word? If so, maybe some explanation as to why he made up a nonsense word there? It almost makes it seem as if it was a word in usage before it was put on the dust jacket and he was merely referencing the word. Sorry I can only pose question and not answers, but this was just my impression when reading it. If someone can expand or further explain, I think it might help clarify that section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.135.207.129 (talk) 23:25, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, it sort of comes from nowhere and needs explanation. Tempshill (talk) 02:40, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Pic requested
I'm going to add to Wikipedia:Requested pictures the alleged "Miss Belinda Blurb" dust jacket - if it exists then it's a free PD image now; and of course would add immeasurably to this article. Tempshill (talk) 02:40, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
