Talk:Bluestripe snapper
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Page name
The species has so many common names, and i have chosen the one apparently most used. The fishbase name of Common bluestripe snapper is almost never commonly used, so it is not used here. The problem is the naming clash with the Bluestriped snapper, Lutjanus notatus (Cuvier, 1828). Currently there is no article for the latter, but may be a future problem. "There are also concerns that a previously unrecorded parasitic nematode, Spirocamallanus istiblenni, was introduced to Hawaiian waters when the fish were released. The addition of this new parasite may have an impact on native fishes, which have not been subject to the species before." This is not true, the species was originally considered endemic, the first recorded host (1966) was the zebra blenny (Hawaiian endemic) 76.88.150.120 (talk) 17:26, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
