[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Blueberry Giraud.gif

Image:Blueberry Giraud.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. For a French comic, the series has been rather extensively translated. I think Moebius(Gir(aud) still has a huge international cult status. Hi! I'm pretty much new in editing wiki pages. Although last year I made an excel table of the English translations of Blueberry. I made it primarily for own use, as a guideline to collect whatever I can from them, but I would be happy to share it. I have no idea how to make a table here, maybe a normal list would be the best... Thanks Wakuran! Wikipedia has a bunch of useful templates, those were helpful. I've made a major edit in Blueberry comics. If it's OK, than hopefully I'll put up the translations of the Young Blueberry saga and a list of other printings of the same titles listed in today's batch. Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry about the Roman numbers. I used a conventional use for marking months, but I guess it's not same everywhere. I'll correct them today. I admit I paid more attention on the table itself, than researching which ISO Wiki prefers.

Second prints: I'll put up a list of those as soon as I get some time to do it. I couldn't fit them in this table, since there are some albums with at least 3 English versions.

The ones marked with n/a are ones that are not translated. Or at least I have no knowledge about them. Zoli79 (talk) 08:00, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm, I just thought it wasn't an obvious method. If you'd like to mark the months, I think you should use a three-letter abbreviation. Anyway, nice work so far. What do you mean by "other translations"? Today I listed the other English publications I know of. These are below the table, and in The Young Blueberry section. If you thought of not English translations... well, unfortunately I don't know about too many. I know there's a lot of Yugoslavian/Serbian ones, and the The Lost Dutchman's Mine, and The Ghost with the Golden Bullets has been published in a Hungarian black and white comics anthology. These are basically all I know. I don't know if these are relevant information.Zoli79 (talk) 20:45, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

I guess this page has a lot of useful information, but I think it needs some reorganizing. I thought of the following structure. Any opinions?

Since no one reacted to my proposal above, I reorganized the article. I think this has a more logical skeleton. If you don't like it, feel free to undo it, or - even better - to expand it. The table is very big, and cuts the article in half, maybe a separate page (list of Bluberry books) would be reasonable? Zoli79 (talk) 00:41, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Non-English translations

Wakuran wrote in his edit comment: "Well, since the Yugoslavian translations appeared before 2006, I'm moving them up, although I'm not sure if they deserve this much detail..."

I wrote one sentence on the topic, about half as much of what someone else wrote on the 2006 Egmont series just below. I don't think that is too much. I think all languages deserve that much, if it has something special to say. This is what I could add on the topic. Furthermore, I find it fascinating that Yugoslavia and Ex-Yugoslavian countries managed to publish the whole series, considering that English speaking countries couldn't do the same. It isn't that strange, since in many countries in Europe there had already been a tradition of translating Franco-Belgian comics. Closer to home than USA. This tradition never fully reached the American or British comics market to any major extent. The Egmont publications were the first mentioned, so I added a short notice on earlier translations. Anyway, my personal opinion is that too many detailed descriptions of each translation would just clutter the article, but I won't remove your edit. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 00:12, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
OFF: As you said, there is a tradition of translating Franco-Belgian comics in Europe, but the great thing about Yugoslavia is that it managed to do that during its socialist years. They also have a massive input on Italian comics (Bonelli). They had a flourishing comics culture when the rest of the Eastern bloc had none, or something strange and isolated.
ON: You might be right here. But if we have a chapter/section on Non-English translations, than we might as well fill it up with information. Wouldn't it be strange if we only had that one general sentence about the topic? Zoli79 (talk) 12:03, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
OFF: Okay, that's interesting, but the info isn't appropriate here, but in its own article about comics in Yugoslavia, or something.
ON: Somehow, it should be written for general interest, it could easily turn into a laundry list full with name-dropped magazines the average reader doesn't know anything about. I deleted the two paragraphs about Yugoslavian and Scandinavian translations, since these attract local interest. I added a sentence about languages with total translations of the series. If anyone else has knowledge about other languages, feel free to add them. I think this is a fair way of shortening this part. Zoli79 (talk) 16:12, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
