BlueSoleil is a widely used Bluetooth software/driver for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, WinCE, Windows Mobile etc. Its latest version 6.0, supports Bluetooth chipsets from CSR, Broadcom, Marvell etc. It is often bundled with Bluetooth dongles, PCs, Laptops, PDAs, PNDs and UMPCs.
Bluesoleil has been developed by IVT Corporation.
Back in 2002, IVT started to develop BlueSoleil with a single philosophy in mind: Ease of Use. IVT tried very hard to hide the complex Bluetooth concepts of searching devices, paring, entering pin codes, using various profiles and establishing connections. All these are managed through a single user interface, with the Sun representing the local device, and devices orbiting the Sun representing devices discovered around my device. The service icon then represents a profile associated with a device. A user can establish a connection to a local device with 3 clicks in a single window.
Innovation
In the last few years, IVT has been taking the lead to add various innovative applications. BlueSoleil was the first Bluetooth PC software[citation needed]
• To support VoIP (Skype) on a PC
• To support A2DP & AVRCP on a PC
• To support PAN on a PC
• To support BIP on a PC
• To support CTP on a PC
• To support multi IM (Skype, QQ) on PC
• To tightly integrate Phone tools as a profile
Interoperability
Due to its wide distribution of over 25 million users and easy access from www.bluesoleil.com[1], BlueSoleil has become the de facto standard for Bluetooth product interoperability[citation needed]. IVT has also established an interoperability testing centre where it has built up a large library of Bluetooth products which are on the market in order to perform interoperability testing on daily bases.
Today IVT has a team in excess of 100 software engineers working behind the scenes to support various versions of BlueSoleil on XP, Vista, Linux and Windows CE.[citation needed]
The program is also available as a standalone purchase from the vendor's website. Regardless of whether the bundled or the standalone version is purchased, the software enforces licensing restrictions which tie it to the address of a specific Bluetooth dongle.
Bluesoleil works with the main Bluetooth Silicon Vendors hardware, such as Accelsemi, Atheros, CSR, Conwise, 3DSP, Broadcom, Intel, Marvell, NSC, RFMD, SiRF[citation needed]
If there is no Bluetooth dongle attached to the PC the Bluetooth logo will be grey, blue if a dongle is attached, and green connected to another Bluetooth enabled device. Latest Version

Illegal Versions
IVT Corporation stopped issuing license keys for Bluesoleil version 1.6, due to a number of counterfeit dongles coming out of the Far East. IVT Website Declaration. IVT Corporation.
Affected users are advised to return any such new purchase of Bluetooth USB Dongles which came with version 1.6 of Bluesoleil to the store which the purchase was made. IVT Website Declaration. IVT Corporation.
Furthermore, these Dongles generally come with the same Bluetooth Device Address, which should be unique. As such, they violate the Bluetooth Specification, and can create numerous problems when trying to operate in a Network of Bluetooth devices.[citation needed]
