Blue Tulip Rose Read
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Blue Tulip Rose Read was the infamous stalker of British TV and radio personality Mike Read. She featured in a film made by Jaine Green for Channel Four in 1996 entitled "I'm your number one fan" as part of its Fame Factor season looking at the dark side of celebrity[1].
Rose was one of the most candid interviewees in the film and was filmed travelling to the offices of Classic FM and writing love letters to the celebrity[2]. It was said in the film that Rose had been writing obscene and threatening letters to Read for many years. Rose was from Welwyn Garden City and her original name was Carol Ballard[3]. She changed her name after she apparently thought that she was married to Read.
Her subsequent activities since the film remain unknown. However she is set to appear in Britains Got Talent as reported be The Sun newspaper on 3rd May 2008. She sang Phantom of the Opera doggy style (vocal style, not in the doggy position). She never got through to the next round unfortunately. Her name has also been changed to Blue Tulip Rose Edelweiss Warby.
The UK TV series The League of Gentlemen made frequent reference to Rose in their first series by putting a quote from the documentary in the background of many episodes[4].
