Vampirates: Blood Captain is a novel written by the British author Justin Somper. It is a follow up to Vampirates: Tide of Terror.

Short Summary These are trying times aboard the infamous pirate ship, The Diablo, especially after Captain Molluco Wrathe's evil nephew, Moonshine, joins the crew. As Connor faces the ultimate test in combat, he questions his ties to his captain and the pirate world. Meanwhile, his sister, Grace, journeys on a dangerous mission with a couple of friends to help her Vampirate friend, Lorcan, have his sight restored. Together, Lorcan and Grace visit the Vampirate Sanctuary where Grace finds herself in the middle again: she's not a blood donor or a Vampirate. She's an "in-between," which means that she doesn't really belong. Connor and Grace have never felt as lost as they do now, and as they both discover, it's getting harder to know who they can really trust and rely upon...

Excerpt "Don't look at him," Connor said, grabbing Bart's shoulder. "Don't look at him and don't talk to him. It isn't..." He refused to even speak the name. "It isn't him." He remembered what the Vampirate captain had told him. 'It's just an echo...' However firm his words and tone of voice, Connor could not hold back the torment he felt inside. He could sense the same struggle going on inside Bart as he gripped his friend's shoulder. He was relieved when, after what seemed like minutes of deadlock, Bart shook of his hold. "It's no good," he said, glancing back at Connor. "He meant too much to me in life for me to shun him now." Turning away again, he took two steps forward.
