B.L. Ochman

Social media marketing and blog advertising strategist to Blue Chip companies including IBM, American Greetings, McGraw-Hill, Ford Motors, Simon & Schuster, and Cendant; internationally respected blogger; corporate trainer and conference speaker, B.L. Ochman publishes What's Next Blog [1] and Ethics Crisis blog [2] and heads the creative team of whatsnextonline.com [3]

What's Next Blog is among the top 25 marketing blogs in the world, by page-views, according to Beyond Madison Avenue, and among Technorati's 4,000 Very High Authority Blogs worldwide. "B.L. Ochman knows her stuff alright… She’s not some Johnny-come-lately guru," says Larry Chase, author, Essential Marketing Tactics for the Net

Among several other high-yield campaigns, Ochman created the first Up Your Budget Treasure Hunt, an innovative four-week, 16-city search for $160K in cash prizes for Cendant's Budget Car Rental division. This blog-based viral marketing campaign, promoted entirely through bloggers and blog advertising - with no traditional marketing whatsoever - generated one million unique visits to the site, 2,000 registered treasure hunters, and over 10 million page views in only four weeks.

"To be asked to sit back and just let the viral do its job was a complete leap of faith for us," Budget Executive Marketing VP Scott Deaver told Stuart Elliott at the New York Times. "But we're very happy with the way it worked out."

Ochman recently created Ethics Crisis, a blog about global business ethics, from SRF Global Translations, specialists in nuanced, localized, multilanguage compliance materials for multinational companies.

The blog aggregates news about corporate ethics compliance and global business, and allows readers to anonymously confess the most unethical thing they have ever done in business and to rate and comment on the confessions of others.

Ochman, who turned her talents to online marketing in 1995, was cited by Seth Godin's "Bull Market" directory in 2005 as one of the world's most creative thinkers.

Previously, Ochman ran an award-winning New York PR firm that she grew to one of the 100 largest independent PR firms in the US, with clients including Stew Leonard’s, Miracle-Gro Plant Food, The American Dairy Association, Kaneka Corporation (Tokyo:JKFC) and many more.

B.L.’s hobbies include Savoy Lindy dancing, growing orchids, and playing and hiking with her chocolate Labradoodle, Benny Bix.

She has taught marketing at FIT in New York City, lectured on blogging at Webster University and Columbia University, and is the author of "What Could Your Company Do With a Blog?" and "Press Releases From Hell and How to Fix Them."
