Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is a new musical comedy created by Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman.[citation needed] It is a fast-paced irreverent Wild West rock musical on the founding of the modern Democratic Party. It redefines Andrew Jackson, America's 7th President, as an 'emo' rock star, and focuses on populism, the Indian Removal Act, and his relationship with his wife Rachel.

It is currently being developed by the Center Theatre Group and will have its world premiere at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in 2008.[1]

[edit] Summary

The play is divided into three distinct segments of Andrew Jacksons life. It is roughly 90 minutes long and has no intermission. The first "act" features members of the cast portraying Jackson's life as a young child. The scene is very short and serves to explain that his family died of cholera. It them moves into Jackson having been captured by the British during the Revolutionary War in which Jackson fought in as a soldier at the age of fourteen. There is humorous banter between the British and Jackson.
