Bloodaxe Books

Bloodaxe Books is a British publishing house specialising in poetry.

It was founded in 1978 by Neil Astley in Newcastle upon Tyne and still has its editorial offices in Northumberland. Its chairman is Simon Thirsk.

The firm has published books by British, Irish, American, European and Commonwealth of Nations writers including Fleur Adcock, Paul Auster, Simon Armitage, Stephen Dobyns, Carol Ann Duffy, Tony Harrison, W. N. Herbert, Sean O'Brien, Tom Paulin, Anne Rouse, Jo Shapcott and Benjamin Zephaniah among others. It has produced anthologies such as New Blood (1999).
