[edit] Summary
Description |
Antique Blickensderfer typewriter invented by George C. Blickensderfer (1850-1917) in 1891 and manufactured by the Blickensderfer Typewriter Co., Stamford, Connecticut, USA. This model is the Blickensderfer 5, the first commercial model, manufactured beginning 1893-5 until after 1906. The typefaces were on a cylindrical typewheel, which could be changed to type different fonts. One of the first truly portable typewriters, it had a DHIATENSOR type keyboard instead of the more common QUERTY. For more information, see Blickensderfer 5, The Virtual Typewriter Museum.
