Blitzen

The Blitzen machine is an SIMD (single instruction, multiple data) computer system. It is made up of a control unit and a set of simple processors connected in a grid topology. As with all SIMD systems, the processors execute the same instruction at any given time, each on its own portion of the input data.

Applications of the Blitzen machine include high-speed image processing, where each processor operates on a pixel of the input image and communicates with its grid neighbours to apply image processing filters on the image.

A software library that emulates the Blitzen machine is available for the C programming language under the Linux operating system.
