Blitz is a fictional anthropomorphic dog from the action/comedy cartoon Road Rovers that premiered in September 1996. He is a Doberman. Before he became a Road Rover he lived in an auto junkyard in Germany. In German, the Name "Blitz" means "Lightning".

[edit] Personality

Blitz is by far the most egotistical of the Road Rovers, and has been known to dispute Hunter's right to lead instead of him, pointing out such things as the fact that Hunter is a mutt and has no offensive superpowers (apparently in Blitz's opinion, super speed doesn't count). The rivalry may also have something to do with Blitz's frequently voiced attraction to Colleen, who shows no interest in him and a great deal of interest in Hunter. Also, some dialogue has suggested that Blitz may be older than Hunter, although their evident levels of maturity would suggest otherwise. Despite (or perhaps because of) his frequent difficulties in the field of romance, Blitz has been the subject of a considerable amount of fanfiction.

Despite his ego and his macho attitude, Blitz is a coward, plain and simple. He has been known to scream like a girl frequently, and when threatened, it has been said that he would "sell his own mother." Oddly enough, he seems braver in his canine form than in his cano-sapien one, although it has been pointed out that he never faced supervillains as an ordinary dog. Exile openly calls him "Weird Boy" because of his loves, like biting bottoms and peppermint milkshakes. Some fans have suggested that the former of these interests may have been an unmentioned cause of the show's cancellation.

[edit] Superpowers

Blitz has claws and teeth that can slash and bite through anything. In the first two episodes his claws bear a resemblance to those of Wolverine, save that they come from his fingertips instead of his knuckles. In later episodes they tended to appear shorter, implying that he may have been learning to control how far he extended them (and thereby run less risk of breaking them).

In the episode "Hunter's Heroes," Blitz showed that he has the ability to bite through and consume any kind of matter (or supposedly), just like Matter Eater Lad, when he took a big bite out of a Cano-Mutant's blaster, swallowed it, and used a toothpick to clean his teeth to scare the enemy.
