[edit] Deleted page "Douglas de Oliveira"

A page you created, or image you uploaded, Douglas de Oliveira, has been deleted in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets the one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

No content whatsoever. Any article consisting only of links elsewhere (including hyperlinks, category tags and "see also" sections), a rephrasing of the title, and/or attempts to correspond with the person or group named by its title.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable notability guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content; it will be deleted again and may be protected from re-creation. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article. If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. Thank you – Gurch 20:06, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Player names

Please, keep in mind that articles names, whenever is possible, are supposed to be short. And full names are supposed to be informed within the article. There's no point in renaming "Leonardo Moura" to his full name as we don't have another Leonardo Moura. Just as there's no point in renaming "Juninho Paulista" to his full name, as we don't have another Juninho Paulista. You've renamed "José Antônio da Silva Júnior" to a larger name: "José Antonio de Miranda da Silva Junior". What for? What's the point? There's no other "José Antônio da Silva Júnior". Your moves only are only making article names larger. Reasonability is the key word in here.
Also, please, when editing articles do not replace existing links by dead ones. It's preferable not event insert dead links in articles. Thank you. —Lesfer (t/c/@) 15:25, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Player names again

Have you simply decided to ignore all the above? —Lesfer (t/c/@) 22:30, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I know you are trying to improve Wikipedia, but expanding the names of the articles of footballers to their full names is not an improvement. Wikipedia favours the use of common names in the articles' names provided the full name apears in the article's text. Thus, nobody uss the full name Ariel Arnaldo Ortega, but just Ariel Ortega.
Please, stop moving that kind of articles; there are better ways to improve Wikipedia. Good luck, --Mariano(t/c) 14:59, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Brazilian footballers

Can you add the Category:Brazilian footballers to all the Brazilian footballers articles you create (and to the ones you have already created)? Regards, --Carioca 00:57, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Players names

Articles names, whenever possible, are supposed to be short. Also, please, do not add dead links in articles. You really should take some time to read Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names). Thank you. —Lesfer (t/c/@) 16:28, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Uh, man, you don't speak English, do you? —Lesfer (t/c/@) 14:53, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Player names (2)

Hi, Blgeoverlord. When you create an article about a person, you always need to follow this naming convention (Portuguese version of the naming convention (texto em português)). According to the naming convention: names of articles should be the most commonly used name (translation: nomes de artigos têm que ser os nomes mais comumente usados), using a full formal name requires people to know that name, and to type more (translation: usando o nome completo requer que as pessoas saibam o nome completo, e que digitem mais letras). So, you have to always use the player common name (like Pelé, instead of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, or Léo Alves, instead of Leonardo Alves Ribeiro de Carvalho), as the player is known by its common name, and most people don't know the player's full name (translation: Portanto, você tem que usar sempre o nome comum do jogador (como Pelé, ao invés de Edson Arantes do Nascimento, ou Léo Alves, ao invés Leonardo Alves Ribeiro de Carvalho), já que o jogador é conhecido pelo seu nome comum, e a maior parte das pessoas não conhece o nome completo do jogador). Hope that helps. Regards, --Carioca 00:25, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, Blgeoverlord, can't you read the above? You have to follow Wikipedia Policies, man. It does not matter if it's in English or Portuguese, but you really should read it. Please, take some time to read the message above. (Por favor, tome um tempo para ler a mensagem acima). —Lesfer (t/c/@) 23:42, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, I thought you did not understand english but I see here you do. Why are you ignoring WP:NAMING, WP:BIO and all the warnings you've received in here? —Lesfer (t/c/@) 18:03, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cruzeiro

Thanks for contacting me back, but zerozero.pt isn't a very good source of information (they never update their stuff), and the players currently listed on Cruzeiro's official website are all in the article (please see official site). As for my numbers, they came from Cruzeiro's Sudamericana match from last week. --AJSDA115 21:46, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for persistently violating WP:NC and WP:MV despite several warnings. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

Please, I request you to follow the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names), as per the above messages. Regards, --Carioca 22:14, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thiago Heleno

Nice contribution made for the article of Thiago Heleno. Well done for the info of his debut game. Would have liked that you kept the infobox as it was; and did not delete an external link.

But still a good contribution! JEPAAB 17:27, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] National Caps

I respect you opinion regarding the national caps, but I'm afraid you are wrong.

First of all adding non-senior national caps will not effect the page badly. It will only add more inforamtion regarding the players international career, which will make the page moe interesting and people will have more infomation.

As I said before, I respect your opinion. Due to the fact, I did not want to state only my opinion. So I looked up for the infobox football biography page and found out a statement that will streghten my argument.

* {{{nationalteam}}} — A <br /> delimited list of international teams that the player has been a member of, including non-senior teams such as U21.

You can look up this for your own satisfaction.

[edit] Re:Flamengo Squad Numbers

Hi there. I don't think so, as those numbers used during Libertadores are no longer valid. Regards —Lesfer (t/c/@) 21:30, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ipatinga

Hey Blgeoverlord, can you do the squad for Ipatinga? AJSDA115 03:03, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ivan Stefanović

A tag has been placed on Ivan Stefanović, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 18:46, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Ditto for Ljubomir Fejsa and any others with substantially the same content, since they say nothing about the players themselves. --Finngall talk 18:51, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Leonardo Henrique Veloso

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Leonardo Henrique Veloso, because another editor is suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Oo7565 (talk) 08:56, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Use of Logos

Hi, could you avoid adding minature logos to player infoboxes as you did here because the logos are only allowed on Wikipedia under strict fair use rationales. Every time you use a club logo you must create a fair use rationale for that usage. Creating mini logos for player infoboxes is against the manual of style for football players, and you cannot claim fair use for them because their use in infoboxes is purely decorative.
