[edit] History
The band grew out of high school practice sessions between guitarist Mike Frisby, and drummer Matt Traynor, filling out the roster with singer Craig Mabbitt and bassist Jared Warth to form Blessthefall in 2004. They released a three-track EP in mid-2005 and added guitarist Eric Lambert to form their current lineup after founding member Miles Bergsma left to attend college at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.[1] Phoenix-area gigs with Greeley Estates and an openly religious orientation got the band local press and a deal with Warner subsidiary, Science Records.[2] The band then toured with Alesana and Norma Jean across the United States and Canada.[3] Their debut album, His Last Walk, was released on April 10, 2007, to mixed reviews.[4][5][6] The band completed the entire 2007 Warped Tour circuit nationwide.[3] His Last Walk peaked at #32 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers chart.[7]
Blessthefall toured with Escape the Fate, LoveHateHero, Before Their Eyes, and Dance Gavin Dance on the Black On Black tour during September and October 2007.
Blessthefall was a part of From First to Last's fall headlining tour, starting November 1st with A Skylit Drive and Vanna. They then began a tour with Silverstein, their first European Tour. While on that tour, in December 2007, Mabbitt left the band during the United Kingdom portion of its European tour, for (according to the band's Myspace blog) "personal reasons." During this time Jared filled in for vocals as well as playing bass to complete the tour.
On December 15, 2007 Blessthefall posted a blog on their MySpace saying they have parted ways with Mabbitt. Mabbitt posted a bulletin on his personal myspace stating he is willing to return to the band. They have not yet stated who will be Mabbitt's replacement. In February 2008, Mabbit became the replacement lead singer for one of Blessthefall's tour friends, Escape the Fate.[8] In May of 2008, Escape the Fate announced Mabbitt had joined them for the recording of their next album.[9]
The rest of the band will be on the winter North America run of the worldwide Taste of Chaos starting in late February running till late April. Others on the tour are Idiot Pilot, Bullet for My Valentine, Atreyu, and headliner Avenged Sevenfold.
Jared switched to recording vocals for the bands new CD, and had the band's friend Aiden fill in on bass. Aiden will continue filling in on bass until Blessthefall finds a new singer, who is yet to be announced.
According to the band's Myspace, they are not doing any summer tours, such as the Warped Tour, and are instead spending that time recording their new album, set to be released late this year.
Blessthefall said they will be playing a show in Mexico with Alex of Greeley Estates on bass, and that there will be a "very special guest": probably their new lead singer.
In 2008, Blessthefall released a new video for the song Rise Up from the album His Last Walk. Rise Up (directed by Travis Kopach) is the only video not including Mabbitt. And is the only video where the remaining band members, did not play any instruments, dressing up as one of the actors. Two middle-aged twins played the main character of the video. The band members are possible to find and has been hard to spot because they have been somewhat camouflaged, with their suit-and-tie, yet they are visible if paying extra attention on the video.
